INTERSTATE 10 – A high speed chase took place earlier today along Interstate 10, with authorities now confirming that it was indeed linked to the theft at Kart Ranch last night.
The chase took place at around 2pm this afternoon and involved six police cars and a police helicopter giving chase to a pink number 5 vehicle and two smaller kart-like vehicles. The chase itself began around the Lafayette area, heading West and ending near Jennings when the vehicles ran out of charge.
Prizes such as stuffed animals and fake iPhones were seen flying out the back of the vehicles in an effort to distract police vehicles. Also thrown out into the road were around 500,000 prize tickets – enough to claim at least three candy bars.
The suspects, who are yet unidentified, were apprehended by authorities safely on the side of the interstate.
“We’re glad this came to a peaceful and safe resolution”, said police spokesperson Richard Kerry, “We had to dodge a few Spongebob toys and a couple of putt-putt golf clubs, but our trained officers navigated everything safely.
There was one instance where a windshield of a patrol car was completely covered with prize tickets, but a brave officer managed to climb onto the hood and remove them while travelling at speed.
We will be continuing the investigation into what happened.”
Interstate 10 is currently closed while the cleanup of the toys and tickets takes place.
