BATON ROUGE, LA – Despite the worst of Barry being over, Governor John Bel Edwards today confirmed that they’re probably just going to keep the voluntary evacuation issued to Iberia Parish in place forever.
The evacuation was issued at the beginning of the weekend amid predictions of floods and high winds in the area, but officials realize that most residents probably want to leave the area regardless of the weather.
“We’re leaving the voluntary evac for Iberia Parish in place for good”, said Governor Edwards, “It’s probably for the best. We’ve lifted all the other voluntary and mandatory evacuations for everywhere else. But lets face it, there’s about four hundred reasons to evacuate Iberia Parish at any given time.
We urge all residents to get out while you can. Even when the Sun is shining. Pack your belongings and come across parish lines. It’s a whole new world out here.”
