YOUNGSVILLE – Despite the fact that Hurricane Harvey is still almost 500 miles away from the Acadiana area, Youngsville residents are this morning waking up to another three feet of flood water after a resident accidentally left a bath tap running.
The bath water engulfed the area in a matter of minutes at around 11pm last night after a local woman began to run a bath, but reportedly got distracted by a TV show. Most likely Scandal. Perhaps Game of Thrones on catch-up.
Youngsville has a reputation for flooding easily, mainly due to its drainage system that many people believe was designed by a twelve-year old child as part of a Make-A-Wish Foundation gig.
Fire Chief Mark Smith encouraged residents to take care when using running water applications.
“I hope this is a wake up call to the people of Youngsville”, he said. “There is simply no room for error when it comes to using taps, hoses, or anything similar. You can’t forget about them when you leave them running because this is the result. Honestly, we urge residents to not even spill a glass of water.”
“Because of one person’s forgetfulness we now find the area three feet underwater and having caused hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage. Please do take care.”
