LAFAYETTE, LA – In a surprise outcome, reports suggest that the highly-anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was actually the second most popular fight of the night behind the put-together-at-the-last-minute spar between Nathan Bertrand and Dallas Cormier.
The match-up – which took place in the parking lot outside of Lafayette nightclub Cowboys – was watched by a bumper crowd of around 24. It was also Facebook Live streamed by an unidentified female which saw an online viewing number of 486. It was refereed by Cormier’s intoxicated friend Chad.
The brawl adhered to the ‘North Of The I-10’ rules – essentially anything goes – and lasted just under three rounds, with the victor taking the spoils in the form three packets of Skoal and bragging rights at this morning’s church service.
Cormier dominated throughout and put Bertrand on the floor numerous times, with Bertrand losing five out of seven of his teeth – although Cormier did take a jab to his shoulder which saw him spill his bottle of Bud Light. It is believed that this particular incident spurred him on even more.
Referee Chad brought the brawl to an end after Cormier hit the gravel one more time, and subsequently knocking his head against a nearby truck nut. No damage was done to his head.
It was around this time that police dispersed the crowd, and everyone returned to their homes.
A candlelight vigil has been scheduled at Cowboys next week for the spilled Bud Light.
