LAFAYETTE, LA – With COVID-19 taking hold in many countries all around the world, Festival International organizers have decided to change the line-up to four days of non-stop Cowboy Mouth in order to help prevent spread of infection.
The line-up change was decided upon this morning and announced this evening. This comes on the back of SXSW being cancelled late last week.
Organizers have been wary about ensuring the safety of both performers, staff and attendees, while doing everything in their power to make sure the annual music festival in Lafayette wasn’t cancelled.
“Our two main concerns were containing the spread of infectious viruses, all while offering the crowds quality musical performances”, explained spokesperson Catherine Manus, “And we believe that we can attain both goals by turning Festival International 2020 into four days of nothing but Cowboy Mouth.
Of course we regret not being able to showcase the international acts – I guess you could almost say that we should drop that word from the name of the festival. But attendees can rest assured that by having one, top-quality local band span the whole of the duration, the most you’ll ever catch is the usual STD.
We’ve pencilled them in for approximately 321 separate shows over the four days. So, we understand they may be a little tired in the latter portion of the festival, but they’re professionals. And we’re giving them free beer.”
Festival begins April 22, and we’ll be sure to have all the FIL2020 news that those other dumb local news outlets don’t cover.
