ABBEVILLE, LA – You can’t help but feel that someone’s going to be severely reprimanded after this huge gaffe.
Day one of two of Abbeville’s Giant Omelette Celebration kicked off yesterday, however things didn’t really go to plan as a misprint in the recipe saw the Vermilion Parish city swallowed up by the giant omelette.
Cleanup operations have begun, although it is believed that it may take weeks to completely eat through.
“A misprint in the recipe saw for the addition of baking powder and three eggs more than we usually use”, spokesperson Patrice Trapp explained. “It was an unfortunate accident that we will surely learn from.
“We’ve already got our hungriest residents on the case, and we believe that this will be completely cleaned up in a matter of weeks. It’s a lot to eat, but these are the type of people that go back for a seventh helping of food every Sunday.”
“On the plus side, though, we just completely destroyed the previous record for World’s Largest Omelette, which is nice. It’s going to be tough for anyone to beat this.”
